A Call For Change

If Christian's were living a life of separation from the world...
~
If Christian's were educating themselves different than the world...
~
Entertaining themselves different from the world...
~
Valuing things different than the world...
~
Dressing different from the world...
~
I wonder....

~ ------- ~

Can we not see? Do we not hear their cry?
~
The world around us desires to see a change.
~

A difference...
~

I can not help to think that God is looking for the same --
in His people!
("Come out from among them and be separate...")~~
After this election, we can as Christian's play the blame game - but rest assured - God is not.

~~

If America comes under persecution...
~
If we as a country lose precious freedoms that our forefathers held dear enough to their hearts that they gave their families, their fortunes - their very lives...
~
If in our life time, we see this come to pass - then I hope we have enough character not to blame the world!
~
The world is looking for something different.
~~
Yet, we, in our insecurities and vain priorities have desired to be accepted by all those around us.
~
We have craved smooth preaching and "tickle -our -ears" messages that make us feel like we are good.
~
We have entered our workplaces, our schools, and our social gatherings looking like the magazine covers we read on a regular basis.
~
We have spent our evenings filling our mind with the philosophies of this world through our media choices - not realizing in the process that we have been spoiled.

~~

It is time - it is high time, that we as Christian's wake up to the fact that this is our fault.
~
We must return to biblical truth.
~
We must be consumed with God.
~

If our children do not know the freedom that we have taken for granted - rest assured it will be on our account.
~

It is time we realize that friendship with the world is enmity against a thrice holy God. God does not bless mixed loyalties.

~

It is time for Christian's to take the blame.
~
It is time to repent of our sins.
~
It is time to be consumed with the holiness of God.
~

The world is looking for a difference. Perhaps it is time that we answer that call.

Will you not join with me in prayer before God? He is ready to forgive if we come to Him in humbleness of heart.

I dress very different than the world and I certainly hope I am a lot different than the world. I want to be a living, breathing witness for Christ by my appearance and actions and lifestyle.

You have said some very wonderful things here, Martie. I think this is your very best post ever.

And I believe you're speaking to the heart of the matter that will naturally manifest itself in the externals like dress and entertainment.

But we must also be careful that we don't try to express Christ from the outside, in--because the world can small the legalism that always ends up in hypocrisy. And what's more, they feel no obligation to believe the best or let love cover it.

Again, a profound exhortation here.

Dear GB,

I could not agree with you more. Our outward actions must be manifistations of the what is going on in the inside. If we try to reach the world for Christ because we dress in skirts and jumpers - we will miss the boat. We will turn into nothing more than isolationists in the long run because we will move away from people that are not like us.

Our hearts must cry for Christ. Him and Him alone. As we draw nigh to God and our love for Him grows the outward actions follow. The way we live - and I do believe this will enclude every area of our life. The world's system cries out to girls and women that our value lies in the way we look and what our bodies have to offer the eye. A Christian panting after the things of God will see that philosophy changed in their dress.

We had too many preachers in the
70's telling us that the only way that we would win the world for Christ was to dress differently. They missed the boat. Yet, now we have a new trend telling us that we can do whatever we want, act however we want and just say we are a Christian and we will win the world for Christ. They are missing the boat too!!

Our hearts must be for Christ alone. To know Him - to understand Him and to allow His Spirit to lead us in our lives and in our interactions with people. They must see Christ - and the only way that will happen is if we are taking the time to walk with Him.

"Oh to be saved from myself dear Lord - Oh, to be lost in Thee..."

Thanks, GB for your comment - we will not win them with the heart of a hypocrite - it must be Christ.

Amen, if we truly truly loved people and put their needs before our own, I do believe that the world would sit up and take notice.
