The Luxuries of Frugality!

Kelli over at "There's No Place Like Home" hosts a show and tell every Friday. Hop on over and see her special treasures along with links from others who participate in this fun little activity!

This Friday - I made a boo-boo and showed something that did not count for show and tell. Kelli - so graciously emailed me and let me know - so I am posting something that does. Thanks Kelli for letting me know! After I got the email from Kelli - I went downstairs and wondered what I would show for my show and tell. While I ironed - I got an idea - I would show the very thing I was ironing! This is my collection of napkins. God has allowed me to find many of them for little to no money at all! It has been such a blessing. With being a stay at home - homeschooling Mom - it is wise to try to cut expenses where I can. I really did not think that I would be able to do the cloth napkin thing - and that it would be too overwhelming to get them washed. It DID take a little bit to get used to - but I really like it now. It feels like I am taking care of my family and treating them with just a little extra TLC - and saving money too!

I have two "sets" of napkins. The one set is my nice napkins. They are the ones that I have more of each specific type of napkins. We use these for dinner at the dining room table and also when we have guests over. I use a wire basket to store these napkins in. I keep the basket on the hope chest by the bay window for easy accessibility.

I also have every day napkins. We use these in the kitchen for breakfast and lunch. They are stored in a wicker apple basket on the kitchen table. Each of the children use theirs in the morning for breakfast and set it on their chair to use for lunch time also. (Well, that is how it SUPPOSED to work :)

It also has been good for my youngest daughter to have something easy to get her started learning to iron. She really loves it and I love having them look so fresh and pressed! During the school year - I am finding myself ironing them while I supervise the kids watching their school videos. I just have an ironing board set up in the school room and press the napkins - and watch the kids.

I LOVE being a homemaker. There was nothing I wanted more in my life than to be a wife and mother! I am living my dream.

Have a great week. See you next Friday.

I found your link on Kim's blog (Large family logistics). I have been thinking about switching to cloth napkins. I actually have quite a few sets of cloth napkins that are hardly ever used. Thanks for the inspiration.
