Sleeping with 'Fresh Air'

Living with autism has it's ups and downs. We have tried as a family to laugh at as much as we can - for sometimes when we take everything too serious - we grow weary and are not able to have fun through the journey.
(Having Fun as a Family Caroling this past Christmas - Sorry about the rain drops)
Well, we have been laughing at Zak's new little obsession. He has found the heater vent in the kitchen to be his favorite spot to sit and chill - (or should I say warm up). The very minute he hears the furnace kick on - he sits up and says, "...time for fresh air..." They he goes over to the vent in the kitchen - sits next to the wall with his face up against it and says over and over - "Time for fresh air".

The other morning he decided to do a 4 a.m. run on the peanut butter in the mudroom closet. Daddy heard him up and went to investigate. He had made himself a little snack in the bathroom with the peanut butter. When Dad walked in - unheard by the thief - Zak was presently putting the peanut butter away in it's proper place. They had a heart to heart about stealing and then Dad decided to spend the rest of the early morning hours on the couch next to the adventurous child - who was given a cot on the floor next to Dad. (Seems Dad can supervise better on the couch with Zak right next to him. )

All was fine and well - and Zak was pretty well dozing and almost asleep when the furnace decided to kick on . He sat right up and said, "...time for fresh air..." Dad who was not familiar with this new little obsession sat in amazement and watched as he went over and got 'fresh air". He really was pretty close to asleep - for moments after the 'fresh air' was sought - one could hear him snoring while he was sitting there. I thought you would enjoy some pics of his early morning 'fresh air."

(Taking and afternoon snooze - by 'fresh air')

Hope you are able to find laughter in your journey - it makes it so much more fun! Thanks for stopping by - I am so glad you did.
Blessings,
~Martie

He looks very comfy in his fresh air space. You are right when you say you have to laugh.

Prov. 17:22: A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones.

Bless you,
Sharon

My kids and I have all enjoyed getting "fresh air" from the heater vents!

My sisters and I did that growing up...and my kids do it now (learned it from me). On cold days I sometimes like to sit in front of the heater vent (with or without a blanket over me) and soak up the heat! Wonderful!

Usually when the kids first get out of bed they like to sit in front of the heat...

What a sweet post, Martie!

Zak is lucky...to have a family that loves him sooooo much! While he sounds like a handful he also sounds like he is a huge blessing!

Keep up the great work with your family. They are lovely.
