Prayer For Zak

The last several weeks here at home have been filled with challenges in regards to our son. Zak, as most of you know, has autism; and what is normal and easy for us in life can be complex and confusing for him.

We have reached a cross roads with him - and are needing to make some decisions. Doctor's appointments have been made to give us some clear direction on what our next steps are to be.

I will be honest and tell you that I have reached a point of almost complete burnout with the little guy. God, as He always does, has provided a bit of relief from the stress. Zak has taken a vacation of sorts and is staying with his Grandparents for a couple weeks. This will give me a break and both Rob and I some time to pray and make some decisions with clearer thinking.

It has not been an easy road - I will be honest and say it is not going to get any easier. Sometimes my flesh wants the easy way - and yet I know that the trials that come into our lives are there to help us to grow and to depend upon the Lord more.

I am asking you if you would make Zak a matter of prayer. We need to know God's mind on the matter and have divine direction as to God's will in his life. I just wanted to share a bit of my heart with you. Your prayers will be greatly appreciated.

Blessings to you My friends,
~Martie

(I thought a trip down memory lane would be in order right now. Enjoy again, or for the first time, the video we made about our Zak and how autism has affected our lives)

I can not begin to imagine how difficult it is for you. We are mom and dad to a special needs niece who lives in a facility and that is tough enough. I will surely pray for you guys.

We will definitely be in prayer for you and for Zak. I cannot imagine how difficult it must be to come to such a point of despair. May God give you clear direction as to His will. Hunter is standing by me as I write and says that "he misses Zak"...we all do.

I will be in great prayer for you all about Zak and the need in your lives.

I have an adopted child that came to us with problems that I would have never imagined. It was beyond what my husband and I could have done in our selves. I have been where you are. My heart goes out to you. May God give you the answers you need so much. May God show you how to best love Zak and what is best for him. connie

I am sorry, I am going to be signing this with my husband's blog signature because we forgot to sign out, so sorry.

Praying for Zak!! Have you heard of Jenny McCartny's new book about autism? It sounds interesting..she says her son is cured of it. Just thought I'd throw that out there for research purposes. Love ya!

Heidi,
I have heard of Jenny's book - there was more vile language in that book than in a rated "R" movie. It was an insult to the general public's intelligence. Sad to say - but true.

Our issues with Zak stem from the fact that he does exhibit autistic behaviours; however, due to past abuse by his birthmother - he also has brain damamge that causes a lot of his autisic actions. So, what works for autistic spectrum kids - does not for him. That has been our biggest hangup with everthing. There is a complex amount of problems going on in this little guy's brain. Oh, if only it were autism - ...

Thanks for the imput. Some Christian parent somewhere should write a book about autism and keep it clean - We could all use a book like that!!

Your kidding!!! I'm glad you told me that..I had just heard about it and how it spoke of amazing children...that is just ridiculous..a book about children along with dirty language!! I will continue to pray for him, and you! (thanks for telling me about the book! I will no longer recommend it!;)

Heidi, Your welcome - I was so dissapointed in the book - and was very very glad that I had checked it out at the library and not purchased my own copy!! Perhaps someday, I will have to write a book of my own - in my spare time of course. LOL

I have been absent for awhile...and I have been catching up with blogs...so sorry to see that little zak is still having more difficulty... sounds like the move was rather hard for him...

I will keep you, your family and Zak in my prayers as you listen and wait for God to show you the way.

It has to be a very, very difficult road to travel...
