Teach them Diligently

"That from a child, thou hast known..."
Never too young to teach them of His love for them!

Amateur Photographer Part I

I assigned my teenager to be the photographer at the adoption hearing.

She used Christmas Day to familiarize herself with the camera.

Here is what I found on my memory card.

Never a dull moment!

Now I know why 35mm went out of use...

Do you know what my Mom would have done if she had paid for a whole roll of film to be developed, only to find these in the sealed envelope at Walgreen's??!!

(These remind me of Camp Pictures - remember, when you went to teen camp and were allowed to take the camera - you just could not wait to get home and get the roll of film developed? - and I do know what my Mom would have done - just shook her head and said, "I don't know why you waste your film and dumb pictures like that. It is not cheap to have that film developed!!"

Perhaps, just maybe, they have too much time on their hands during Christmas break.

OR

Perhaps, living in the country they don't get out much?...

Either way, I know she is safe at home, not doing drugs, not hanging with friends that are shady, and not doing things she will be ashamed of in her adult life...

Then again...

Adoption a Beautiful Thing

Interesting how in a few seconds - the authority of the land can change an entire future.

Neat to think that in a few seconds - when I accepted what Christ had done for me on the cross - His authority changed my entire future.

Adoption - a beautiful thing!

(The sound is difficult to hear - but what the judge said was from here on out her name would be changed to: Susanna Faith Spurgeon - with that pronouncement - Daddy promptly gave her a kiss and told her he loved her!)

Our Daughter

Susanna Faith Spurgeon

She is officially ours! We are so thankful for God's gift to us this Christmas. Eleven years ago I experienced the saddest Christmas of my life. I am stand in awe at this gift to me!

"...and their soul shall be as a watered garden; and they shall not sorrow any more at all...for I will turn their mourning into joy and will comfort them, and make them rejoice from their sorrow...and there is hope in thine end, saith the Lord..."

" This is His doing, it is marvelous in our eyes!"

"That they may see, and know, and consider, and understand together, that the hand of the Lord hath done this..."
"Lo, children are an heritage of the Lord."

Thanks so much for stopping in - I am so glad you did!

Rejoicing,

~Martie

Merry Christmas!

From our house to yours -

What a wonderful gift was given to us so many years ago.

He gave - and we are blessed!

Update on Zak

We were at Children's Hospital most of the day yesterday. Zak is being seen there due to some severe issues we have been facing in the last month. It has not been fun to say the least!! We met with one doctor yesterday for 2 hours - and I think we are getting somewhere. I also am thinking I am not liking where we are going. It appears we are looking at a genetic disorder. It has put life in a different perspective!! He goes in to the hospital in 3 weeks for a day of tests. We are praying that God will give the doctor's wisdom as they try to find out what is wrong. We would appreciate your prayers for him at this time!

On a very happy note - we are looking at 3 days till our little one is adopted!! Everyone is very excited about Friday!

Thanks so much for stopping in - I am so glad you did!

Holiday Tea

This week for S&T I wanted to share my newest teapot that I found at our local thrift store. When I saw it on the shelf - it was love at first sight. I just think it is SOOO cute. It looks like the perfect pot from which to serve Peppermint Tea.
This shall be my Christmas Pot and my Valentine's Day pot. Give me a call and come over for a cup of tea!!

For more Show and Tell Friday's head over to Kelli's.
Merry Christmas,

Fhoto Fun

Rachel and I were messing around with the camera the other day; and then after we were done, Rachel edited our photos. I liked this one the best - what do you think?

I am enjoying spending time with family - sounds like we will have more time together; as a snow storm is heading our way. We are supposed to see up to 11 inches by tomorrow afternoon. With all of this snow - we could adopt 4 or 5 more kids and have plenty for another family sculpture. LOL

Thanks so much for stopping by - I am so glad you did.

Pass the Peas Please

This girl loves her peas! You should see how excited she gets when I get them out of the freezer. And... she wants them right out of the freezer - she hates them cooked. Go figure!

Other favorites for our budding culinary taster:
Olives - she LOVES olives!
Avocados

Bananas

But her absolute favorite snack is COOKIES! And... she has a way with her brothers and sisters that makes her get more than her fair share! (I think she might be spoiled!)

Enjoying God's blessing to us,
~Martie

Meet the Family

We finally were able to get the entire family sculptured by a gifted potter. We loved what she has done with the family!

Our little one - (a name has been decided and I will be sharing it with you in a few days!)

The Zak Man!

James the Builder

Abbey the Talented

Rachel the Refined

Mom

Dad

All I have to say it that you can not get this done in Texas! You will find this service available only in Northern areas of the USA!

Thanks so much for stopping by - I am so glad you did!

'Tis the Day After Christmas

I found out that I will not get my biggest Christmas present until the day after Christmas. I don't mind a bit!

WE HAVE AN ADOPTION DATE!!

On the morning of December 26Th we will legally add another Spurgeon to our home!! What a joy she is!

I can't wait to be able to share our pictures with you - there will be a lot - I have been taking them for the past 7 months. Hope you can handle it!

Blessings,
~Marite

Digging Through

With all the snow that we have had here - the kids have had a blast playing in the white stuff. Snow seems to be a wonderful place for the imaginations to run wild as the shovels work on building a dynasty bigger than Atlantis - to the sports doing the work.

Tunnels where dug at each side of the snow piles connecting the tow diggers in the middle. Dad even went through the tunnel!! (Much to the kids surprise and excitement!)

The pictures are not the greatest - you will have to forgive me - for my hands were shaking so badly in the bitter cold that I could not hold the camera still enough for a decent frame!

The digging crew made their way indoors right near dinner time - and dusk. We enjoyed stew and homemade bread. It seemed to hit the spot after the cold outing.

As we were preparing for bed the kids asked me if the would be able to sleep in their fort for the night. The question took me by surprise - wondering if they had been out a bit too long and got frost bite on the brain. I must have looked a bit odd to them after they asked - they then told me that the fort was very very warm inside and they would be fine out there for the night. I raised and eyebrow in serious doubt. They told me that I should go out and sit in the hole for a while and see how warm it is inside. I found that to be the perfect time to finish the conversation up:
"No, I think we are all settled in for the night. I am sure it is warm in the hole; but we are all going to sleep in our beds for the night...'

Trust you are staying warm ... indoors!

Blessings,
~Martie

Remembering

Thankful that she was ours... even just for a while.
